You may be asking yourself what's so great about Photoshop that
other, cheaper photo editing software can't do? The answer is ALOT!
You'll be amazed at the great stuff that comes with Photoshop
and for the price you're paying, it better!
Here's one cool function I love about Photoshop...
If you want to "SEE" tips and tricks like these being

...Eyedropper Outside Photoshop Window
Anyone who has ever worked with colors will know how difficult it
is to get just the right shade, and you may be asking if there's a
way in Photoshop to have the eyedropper work on windows OTHER than
Photoshop windows? Let's say you wanted to set the background color to
something in a Firefox window. Can you do that? YES!
With Photoshop 7 onwards all you need to do is select the
eyedropper tool (Shortcut key: "I"). Click and drag from your image
to where you want to sample the color.
Just click in your image, and hold the mouse button until you
sample the area you want, outside of the Photoshop window. That's
it!
Ok, so maybe you knew that already, what about Cropping
Non-rectangular Selections?
You can apply the crop command even if your selection is not a
rectangular. It can be any shape. Photoshop will detect the most
extreme pixels of your selection in each direction and will crop
the image accordingly.
Maybe we were just too basic with the 2 tips above, how about if we
shared some best kept secrets from professional graphic designers?
Lets learn how to make neon signs!
How To Create A Neon Sign
There are many ways to create a neon sign with glowing neon
letters, but this is definitely the easiest and fastest way.
First choose a bold font and type up your sign, make sure you
choose a big number for the Size, let's use 40. Fill it with black on
black background. At this point your neon sign is "off".
Now let's switch it on. Click the first icon from the left on the
bottom of the Layers palette to add a layer style. Choose Stroke
and follow the settings below.
Size: 12px
Position: Center.
Blend Mode: Normal
Opacity: 100%
Fill Type: Gradient.
Style: Shape Burst.
Angle: 90
Scale: 100%
Click the gradient to bring up the the Gradient editor window. Here
you need to create a gradient with black on the edges, the same
bright color at 25% and 75%, and white in the middle. You can add
new color stops by clicking at the bottom edge of the gradient.
Delete them by selecting and hitting backspace. Edit their color by
double clicking them. Click OK to go back to the Layer Style window.
As a last step click the Outer Glow layer style and select a
similar color to the one you have chosen for the gradient. Choose a
low Opacity (35) but higher numbers for Spread (15) and Size (59).
The cool thing about this technique is that everything is in
vectors, so you can freely resize your artwork to any resolution.
Wasn't that a great tutorial? Imagine needing to spend hours
