So far, there aren’t that many of them on the market thanks to the cost of some components and the fact that Intel wants the machines to sell for under $1000. Some Ultrabooks are under that number, but others are over. Samsung has a new SSD that is aimed at the Ultrabook and other compact high performance notebooks.

| Apple Confirms Grand Central Store Opening December 9th Posted: 01 Dec 2011 08:19 AM PST Apple has today confirmed that its new Grand Central Store will now be opening on December 9th 2011, just in time for the holiday season. Apple is now advertising the opening date across its new signage. Which was caught on camera by Instapaper creator Marco Arment. Who then tweeted it confirming earlier reports The Apple Store would ope next weekend to be true. The new Apple Store is currently the subject of an inquiry by the State into rumours that Apple may have secured the lease at considerably less than other businesses within Grand Central. Its thought Apple is paying $60 per-square-foot, whereas other retailers are expected to pay $200 for the same area.

Sharp’s new camera module features a 12.1 megapixel, 1/3.2-inch CMOS sensor with optical image stabilization, and it measures just 5.4mm thick, and sharp will start shipping samples of the device to manufacturers from the 2nd of December.

| Posted: 01 Dec 2011 05:57 AM PST The HTC Raider was announced back in September, and now it would appear that this new Android smartphone is headed to AT&T in the US as the device has just turned up at the FCC. As a reminder the HTC Raid features a 4.5 inch qHD display with a 960 x 540 pixel resolution, processing is provided by a dual core 1.2GHz processor and there is also 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built in storage.

| Google’s Nexus Android Phones Dont Come With Carrier IQ Tracking Posted: 01 Dec 2011 05:21 AM PST Earlier today we heard that the Carrier IQ tracking software had been discovered in Apple’s iOS devices, although the software doesn’t seem to be as bad as the version found in some Android devices. According to a recent report by the Verge, it would appear that Google’s range of Nexus smartphones don’t come with any of the carrier IQ software built in, and neither does the original Motorola Xoom tablet.

| Nokia N8 Used To Create Feature Length Movie (Video) Posted: 01 Dec 2011 05:10 AM PST An independent film crew has created the first feature film using a smartphone camera, the crew used a Nokia N8 smartphone and a specially adapted 35mm lens to created the film, which is called Olive. The film has been completed, and funded, he guys behind it are trying to raise $300,000 to distribute the movie via Kickstarter, and they are hoping to release the movie to over 2,000 movie theaters in the US.

| Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE Poses For The Camera (Video) Posted: 01 Dec 2011 04:17 AM PST We are still none the wiser on when Verizon will release the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the US, in the meantime a video has appeared online showing the Verizon Galaxy nexus 4G LTE in action, which you can see below. We get to see the boot animation on the Verizon version, which appears to be the same as the international version of the Galaxy Nexus, and the Verizon Galaxy Nexus is slightly thicker than the international version an features a slightly larger battery.

| Asus Eee Pad MeMo 7 Inch Android Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet Coming January 2012 Posted: 01 Dec 2011 04:06 AM PST The Asus Eee Pad Memo was announced a while back, and it looks like the 7 inch Android tablet has had a few changes since its original announcement, as the device is now reported to launch in January of 2012 and come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. When the device was announced back in February it was said to come with a 7 inch touchscreen display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, plus a 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

The new iOS game has been adapted from the popular console hit and has been designed specifically for tablets, and provides 50 levels of "Dead-Ops Arcade" gameplay.

| Airless Tyres, Using Resin Spokes Unveiled By Bridgestone Posted: 01 Dec 2011 03:38 AM PST Tyre makers Bridgestone have unveiled a new tyre they have created that requires no air inside to make it functional. The new airless tyres are instead equipped with resin spokes inside the tyre that provide support for the load of the vehicle. The new resin spoke technology does not run from the inner circumference (rim) of the tyre to the outer circumference (tread) in a radial pattern. Instead, as pictured below the angle of each spoke on the inner circumference of the tyre is about 45° different from that on the outer circumference, to provide extra support.

| Microsoft Launches Limited Edition Year Of The Dragon Mice Posted: 01 Dec 2011 03:17 AM PST Microsoft has unveiled a range of new mice, that its has launched to celebrate the 2012 Chinese New Year. The three limited edition mice have been designed exclusively from the Year of the dragon, and are available as either a Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 or Arc Touch Mouse. The intricate dragon designs printed on the 3500 mice, have been created by artist Nod Young. Who gleaned inspiration for the designs, from the Nine-Dragon Wall located in China’s Beihai Park and also the popular Dragon Ball cartoon.

| iPhone 5 And iPad 3 To Come With 4G LTE Next Year? Posted: 01 Dec 2011 03:00 AM PST References to next years iPhone 5 and iPad 3 were recently found in iOS 5.1 Beta, and now according to a recent report Apple is expected to launch 4G LTE versions of the iPad 3 and iPhone 5 next year. The news comes form Japan’s Nikkei, which has said Apple is working on a 4G LTE enabled iPad 3 which is expected to launch with NTT DoCoMo in Japan some time during the summer and also a 4G LTE enabled iPhone 5 which is expected to hit the carrier in the fall of 2012.

| Nexus One Gets ICS With CyanogenMod 9 (Video) Posted: 01 Dec 2011 02:43 AM PST We heard recently that the CyanongenMod team were working to bring Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to a number of Android devices with CyanogenMod 9, and now we get a look at an early build of CyanongenMod 9 running on the Nexus One. It looks like almost everything is working in ICS on the Nexus one, although the camera and USB mass storage don’t work at the moment, we suspect it wont take the guys from the XDA long to get those things working.

| Asus Transformer Prime Launches December 12th Posted: 01 Dec 2011 02:19 AM PST We have been hearing that the Asus Transformer Prime would go on sale in the US on the 8th of December, and now according to the guys over at the Verge, the Transformer Prime will be available online from the 12th of December and it retail stores from the 19th of December. Although the Verge were told by Asus that these dates could change slightly, depending on how many pre-orders the company needs to fill first, and there are two versions available at launch.

| LG And Sony Ericsson Android Phones Get 50GB Of Free Cloud Storage With Box.net Posted: 01 Dec 2011 01:29 AM PST Online cloud storage service Box.net has just announced that they are giving 50GB of free cloud storage to all LG Android devices running Android 2.1 and above, this includes both tablets and smartphones. Box.net are offering the free 50GB of cloud storage from now until the 31st of March 2012, and it is available for LG Android smartphones from today and will also be available for all Sony Ericsson Android smartphones in the not too distant future.

| Carrier iQ Data Logging Software Found In Apple’s iOS Posted: 01 Dec 2011 12:59 AM PST Yesterday we showed you a video from software researcher Trevor Eckhart which detailed the Carrier IQ data logging software that had been found in a number of mobile devices. Now it would appear that the software has been found in Apple’s iOS, it was discovered by iPhone developer @chpwn, although it apparently isn’t as bad as the versions of the software found in Android devices.

I have a powerline network in my house to connect to my game console upstairs since my WiFi network gets sketchy up there. I don't really like that the outlets in the game room are scarce and the adapter blocks one of my plugs though.
