| Sony Uses Projection Mapping, With Amazing Effect To Create New PlayStation Store Adverts (videos) Posted: 02 Dec 2011 03:02 AM PST Sony has this week unveiled a series of new adverts its created for their PlayStation Store, which have been produced by creative agency Studio Output and the Marshmallow Laser Factory. The team used a range of technology to create the adverts visual effects, which incorporate projection mapping, props, and motion-tracking to create amazing effects. All three movies you can view after the break were shot in real-time without any post-production, with everything you see being created by the lens of a camera. Enjoy!

| Microsoft Says Windows Phone Devices Do Not Use Carrier IQ Software Posted: 02 Dec 2011 02:59 AM PST First Google, then Apple, and now Microsoft is the latest company that wants people to know that it has nothing to do with the data logging software, Carrier IQ that has been discovered on smartphones. Microsoft is expected to release an official statement shortly confirming that they do not use the software, although it has already been confirmed by someone from Microsoft on Twitter.

| Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE Speedtest (Video) Posted: 02 Dec 2011 02:44 AM PST We still don’t know exactly when the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE will go on sale in the US, but if you were wondering how fast the device is going to be, a video has now appeared with a Speedtest running on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The video below shows the Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Speedtest with only two bars of signal, and according to the video it was tested in a not so good signal area, and still managed speeds of 8MB.

Now Samsung is having a go at the iPhone, with the advert featured below, which appeared on Samsung’s Facebook page and describes the iPhone as old school, pictured along side an 80s mobile phone.

| Motorola Droid RAZR MAX Discovered? Posted: 02 Dec 2011 02:26 AM PST The Motorola Droid RAZR went on sale recently, but now it would appear that a new version of the device has been discovered, called the Droid RAZR MAX, the name was found in the EXIF data in some photos taken with the device by the guys from Pocket Now. It isn’t clear as ye exactly what difference the Droid RAZR MAX would have with the original Droid RAZR, possibly a larger battery, or maybe a larger display with a higher resolution.

| Curly Cable For iPhone And iPad (Video) Posted: 02 Dec 2011 02:19 AM PST This is one of those designs that you wonder why didn’t I think of that, the standard cable for your iPhone and iPad could do with being a bit longer, especially if you want to use your device whilst it is charging. Curly Cable is basically a longer cable for your iPhone, iPad or iPod, and the designers obviously took their inspiration from old style telephones, as the cable can be extended easily.

The new Back to Karkand will include four maps from previous Battlefield games, all recreated in Battlefield 3′s new Frostbite 2.0 game engine. The new DLC will be free if you purchased the Battlefield 3 limited edition version at launch, otherwise it will cost you an extra $15 to enjoy. | Verizon Launching Two New Droid Xyboard 4G Tablets This Month Posted: 02 Dec 2011 02:08 AM PST Verizon Wireless has confirmed they will be launching two new 4G Droid tablets this month, there will be a 10 inch Motorola Droid Xyboard tablet and an 8 inch Motorola Droid Xyboard tablet. Verizon has confirmed any exact specifications on these two new tablets, although they are expected to be similar to the new Motorola Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media edition tablets which were announced recently.

Designer Donghee Suh, is now looking to change this and has conceptualised a new innovative way to keep your earphones neat and tidy whilst not in use. The Ear Tentacles have been inspired by the suction cups on the octopus, and allow the earbuds silicon cone to flip back on its self, and become a suction cup when not in use.

| Apple Says They Will Remove Carrier IQ From iOS Devices Posted: 02 Dec 2011 01:28 AM PST More news on the Carrier IQ data logging software this morning, first we heard Google say that they don’t use the software, then we had a statement from the company behind Carrier IQ, and now Apple has spoken out about the software. We reported the other date that Carrier IQ has been discovered in Apple’s iOS devices, although to a lesser extent than other devices, and now Apple has confirmed they will remove the software in a future update.

| Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Ban Continues In Australia Posted: 02 Dec 2011 01:19 AM PST On Wednesday we heard that the ban of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 had finally been lifted in Australia by the Australian Federal court, and the device was expected to go on sale in Australia today. Well it looks like Apple has appealed the decision of the Federal court, and now the Australian High court has decided that the tablet is still banned in the country and can’t go on sale as yet.

| Ladder Climbing Robot Takes Robot Engineering To New Heights (video) Posted: 02 Dec 2011 01:11 AM PST A new style of robot has been unveiled, which has been designed to climb ladders by itself, as is equipped with 5 motors that help it pull its 1.4m high frame, weighing 30 kg up specially created ladders. The new robot named Dream Robo has been created by Osaka-based industrial equipment maker Muscle Corporation, together with a number of other Japanese companies. | Carrier IQ Claims They Aren’t Logging Your Data Posted: 02 Dec 2011 01:08 AM PST Earlier today we heard that Google had confirmed that they do not use the Carrier IQ software, and now the company behind the software has released a statement which they claim that they do not record your data. You can see the statement below, although it isn’t clear as yet whether this is some sort of damage limitation attempt by the company or actually an explanation of what the software does.

| Samsung Galaxy Nexus Lands On Vodafone UK Posted: 02 Dec 2011 12:55 AM PST We just got an email from the guys over at Vodafone UK, to let us know, that the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus is now available with Vodafone here in the UK, and the device is available from free on their £41 a month contracts. As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy nexus comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and it features a 4.65 inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, processing is provided by a dual core 1.2GHz processor.

| LG Nitro HD Hits AT&T December 4th Posted: 02 Dec 2011 12:49 AM PST The LG Nitro HD was announced recently, and the device was launched yesterday at an LG event in New York, and it will go on sale with US mobile carrier AT&T on the 4th of December for $250 when you sign up to a new two year agreement. The device features a 4.5 inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and it is powered by Android Gingerbread 2.3 and features a dual core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

| Windows 8 Public Beta Coming February 2012 Posted: 02 Dec 2011 12:38 AM PST Microsoft is expected to launch the next version of its operating system, Windows 8, in the fall of 2012, and Windows 8 is designed to work on both PCs and tablets, and now it would appear that we may have a launch date for the public beta of Windows 8. According to a recent report, Microsoft will launch the Windows 8 public beta in February of 2012, and we have heard previously that Microsoft may release Windows 8 RTM (release to manufacturing) around June of next year.

That hasn’t stopped whoever built this high rise crib from tricking out the exterior to resemble an AT-ST, those chicken walking battle mechs best known in Star Wars: Episode VI. Too bad this doesn’t come with the usual weapons complement. It would also look mean if it were painted gray.

Guess the lesson here is never doubt Chinese ingenuity, especially when inspired by a Michael Bay flick. Now if he can only manage to get his hands on an All Spark shard…the name of the artist/fanboy who built the menacing Decepticon is unknown, while speculation that he’s being financed by the Chinese Army may or may not be true.

| With 2012 Looming, Apocalypse Kit Goes On Sale Posted: 01 Dec 2011 04:29 PM PST Since bladed and pointy objects have always been cool things to have, outdoor gear purveyors Gerber did the smart thing and put a bunch of sharp knives in a single container. The resulting product is the Apocalypse Kit, a set of dangerous tools (includes a hatchet) for emergency situations. As pictured below, the kit has knives large and small plus a small axe to hurl at zombie skulls. Not sure if there’s a blade perfect for buttering your toast on a post-Apocalyptic breakfast.
