At the CES 2012, Canon adds to its PowerShot line the new flagship PowerShot G1 X prosumer digital camera. Featuring a 1.5-inch 14.3 Megapixel Canon CMOS image sensor, the G1 X gets the largest sensor to date for a PowerShot camera to deliver “approximately nine times more light sensitivity and helping to produce amazing depth-of-field and high-quality images in tough low-light conditions”. The new camera has a 4x optical zoom Canon lens.

The PowerShot G1 X is equipped with the DIGIC 5 image processor to create the HS SYSTEM for outstanding low-light performance up to ISO 12800, and high-quality images in the most difficult of lighting conditions. Thanks to the DIGIC 5 image processor, the G1 X includes the the High-Speed Burst HQ feature for shooting images at high speed 6fps at full resolution. The prosumer camera also features High Dynamic Range (HDR) shooting mode, Optical Image Stabilizer, Intelligent IS that automatically chooses from six different modes to optimize image stabilization for the shooting condition, and Full HD 1080p video recording. You can also find EOS-like features such as 14-bit, RAW+JPEG shooting and compatibility with accessories such as Speedlite, Macro Twin Lite or the Macro Ring Light flashes.

Canon’s PowerShot G1 X comes with a 3-inch Vari-Angle LCD display and provides HDMI output for showing HD content on larger screen HDTV. There are Mode Dial and Front Dial provide intuitive manual adjustment, and the camera supports SD/SDHC and SDXC memory cards. To be released in February, the G1 X will be priced at $799.99.

Toshiba announced at the CES 2012 its Excite X10 for the US market (also known as AT200 in some markets and Regza AT700 in Japan), which is the world’s thinnest 10-inch tablet measuring just 7.7mm thick and weighs just 535g. The device has as premium, ultra slim, lightweight design and is equipped with magnesium alloy surface for durability and style. It is powered by a TI OMAP 4430 dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM.

The Excite X10 features a 10.1-inch 1280×800 HD IPS LED-backlit touchscreen with 10-finger multi-touch support, which is protected by scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass and an anti-smudge coating for greater resiliency. The tablet has a 5 Megapixel main camera with LED flash, a 2 Megapixel front-facing camera, built-in stereo speaker with Toshiba and SRS Labs sound enhancement, as well as micro HDMI port for bringing HD content to a bigger screen HDTV. The X10 supports Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity. You can find a microSD/SDHC card slot for expansion, in addition to 16GB or 32GB internal storage.

Toshiba’s Excite tablet supports full HD video recording and playback. It is equipped with Gyroscope, Accelerometer, GPS, eCompass and Ambient Light Sensor. To be released in mid-Q1 2012, the Excite X10 will be loaded with latest Android operating system. The price starts at $529.99 for the 16GB model and $599.99 for the 32GB.

Samsung Techwin announced its new SmartCam WiFi IP camera designed to offer real-time video and audio monitoring from any Internet-connected smartphone, computer or mobile devices. The SmartCam simplifies the setup process with the WPS support so the camera will be connected to your home network in less than 30 seconds (of course, your wireless router needs WPS support as well).

With a sleek and slim design, the SmartCam can be placed anywhere and it comes with a swiveling bracket which will allow it to be mounted to a wall and adjusted to ensure the user gets the shot required. It supports 640×480 video recording at 30fps in H.264 format and is able to record events in the dark through the use of non-visible infrared LEDs (up to 15 feet). The wireless IP camera features built-in microphone and speaker and is capable of  two way talk. It can be configured to automatically record video (640×480 / 30fps / H.264) when motion or sound is detected, and that footage will automatically be uploaded to a secure YouTube account and users will be notified of the event via real-time push notification.

Coming in March, the Samsung SmartCam WiFi IP camera will be available for $149. The device is on show at the CES 2012.

Belkin announced its new Advance N900 DB Wireless Dual-Band N Router (model F9K1104) that features the company’s MultiBeam technology for high-powered wireless signal and maximum throughput, creating a robust network that supports an entire household of Wi-Fi devices and media-intensive activities like online gaming and 3D video streaming.

The Advance N900 supports dual-band WiFi technology with a combined speeds of up to 900Mbps (450Mbps 2.4GHz + 450Mbps 5GHz).
