Apple Files Second Complaint Against HTC, Asks To Ban Imports Posted: 11 Jul 2011 09:39 AM PDT It's been a good year or so since Apple and HTC were originally duking it out in the court room over Android patent infringements. The case has gone rather quiet since its original filing, until today when the ITC posted a new complaint filed by Apple against HTC. This time, the Cupertino-based company hopes to block imports of "personal electronic devices" made by HTC. This isn't the first time we’ve seen phone makers take to the ITC to trip up competition. Just recently, Samsung filed for an import ban on Apple handsets, just one of the many complaints that have arisen during the phone makers' epic patent war. The complaint against HTC was filed July 8, but just today made its way onto the ITC website. On August 5, a judge will present her decision over whether or not HTC's Android phones violate Apple patents. After that, the ITC will review the findings and make the final call. HTC hasn't sat idly by as Apple complains. The Taiwanese manufacturer filed a similar complaint to the ITC asking for its own import ban on Apple products. Findings on that case will be presented September 16. [via Bloomberg] |

Microsoft Patent Describes Detachable Dual-Screen Device Posted: 11 Jul 2011 06:37 AM PDT We have mixed feelings about dual-screen devices. The dual-screen Kyocera Echo landed rather flatly, despite its unique form-factor, and though we're excited to see Sony's folding S2 tablet up close, we're still hesitant about all those hinges and springs. But Microsoft seems to be flirting with the idea of it, filing a patent that describes a dual-screen device (possibly a smartphone) with one display that can be detached. Viewable content on the detached screen would depend on what the user is doing on the primary screen. If the detached screen is unnecessary, it gets its own docking station to chill in until you need both. It's tough to tell whether or not this one will come to fruition. Tech beasts like Microsoft (especially Microsoft) tend to whip out patents on a fast schedule, many of them to never see the light of day. On the other hand, with competitors like Sony already pushing out dual-screen devices, Microsoft could very well be prepping for its entry into the dual-screen arena. [via Phone Arena |
Is This The iPhone 5 3D Super3D 3DS 3D iPhone? Posted: 11 Jul 2011 06:05 AM PDT Absolutely not, but it’s a nice try. MICGadget found this ridonkulous “dual camera” iPhone featuring two cameras for hot 3D action. Will there ever be a 3D iPhone? Who the heck knows, but I assure you whatever this monstrosity is it’s not the iPhone 5. |
